About Us

About us

We are an aspiring young institute with great potential for contributing to the economic development and growth of the scientific culture in Panama.
Our focus areas are in biomedical research: cancer, mass spectrometry, biotechnology, immunology, neurosciences, molecular and cell biology. In addition, we are open to new talent to expand in further fields. Furthermore, in the last few years, over 400 Panamanian students have undertaken PhD and Postdoctoral studies in world renowned institutes overseas. We therefore envision that this institute could recruit novel talent coming to Panama, offering state of the art research space and helping to counter the brain drain seen until now. We also offer projects and mentorship for students undertaking studies in Panamanian universities and in this way aim to contribute to the scientific future of this country.

Our mission

To build a state-of-the-art institute, open to diverse and young talent, advancing knowledge through science and technology.
Kinases involved in autoimmune, inflammatory, and allergic diseases are possible target treatments for other diseases such as cancer. Our project is based on using known compounds that have non-specific inhibition against these immune related kinases and identifying which modifications could have more potency and specificity. One of the backbones we are currently studying is curcumine.
